Guildford Local Plan Scoping Consultation
GBC have initiated the first public consultation for the new Guildford Local Plan that is being produced to the new faster timetable implemented by the government. The consultation runs from 2 September to 11:59 pm on 14 October 2026.
The first consultation is to obtain views about:
- what the new Guildford Local Plan should cover
- how we should engage with stakeholders as part of producing the plan.
The Guildford Local Plan will cover the exisiting Borough Boundaries and although it won't be completed until early 2029 it will be carried over in this form into the new West Surrey Unitary Authority.
To support this stage GBC have published the Guildford Local Plan Scoping Consultation document (See Foot of Post), intended to ‘ get your views on a wide range of aspects including the issues facing your area, potential policy topics that the new Local Plan may contain, the key priorities which will help inform the new Local Plan vision and the methods of engagement we will undertake as part of future consultation events. There are 21 questions embedded within the document which are also set out in full at the start of the document’.
A summary of the responses will be published.
There will be at least two further consultations:
- a consultation on the proposed local plan content and evidence
- a consultation on the proposed local plan.
