The 'Local Plan: strategy and sites 2015-2034' was adopted in April 2019 (See Below). This sets out the vision, aims and strategy for the borough up to 2034. The document contains key facts about our borough, the spatial vision, strategic objectives, overarching planning policies and allocates land for housing, employment, community facilities and other types of development.

An associated second part of the plan is the Development Management Policies (DMP) (See Below) which provides further and more detailed policies to support the implementation of the Local Plan.  The two sections of the plan need to be considered in conjuction in relation to planning matters, plus any Supplementary Planning Documents.

Consultation has now closed on the DMP.  The Society has written comments on the DMP proposals which you can read in full below.  The DMP has evolved to consider the the latest NPPF proposals.  The Society still believes that the DMP needs to be improved to handle matters relating to the height and mass of buildings and the challenge of getting better standards of design in the Borough.
