Surrey’s 2050 Place Ambition

Consultation on Refreshed Document

The Surrey Future partnership, consisting of Surrey local authorities and their strategic partners have recently refreshed a document - Surrey’s 2050 Place Ambition (See Below).  This document is now being consulted upon. The refresh considers the impact of the Covid pandemic, actions needed to support a zero-carbon future and new policy documents and other strategic work currently being undertaken across Surrey.

The aim is to position Surrey to play a full part in the economic success of the country over the next 30 years, being a key driver of growth and an excellent place where people can live, work, and learn.  A key principle is to deliver “good growth”.

The report highlights that there are real opportunities for Surrey to grow and become even more attractive as a place to live and work, but this needs to be done in a way that helps address the challenges around climate change, doesn’t put excessive pressure on our infrastructure, improves the overall quality of our environment and enables our economy to grow sustainably.

Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
