Surrey Hills Extension Moves forward

30% may be added to current area

Natural England is currently considering whether certain Extension Areas (See full Map Attached at foot of post), providing approximately an extra 30% added to the Surrey Hills National Landscape (SHNL, adjacent to the current area should be designated.  Surrey Hills National Landscape was formaly named Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

Following the review of the second (2024) consultation responses, Natural England proposed two further Deletions to the boundary at Tongham and northwest of Blackwell Farm, see the attched map 14c attached below..

Next Steps

Natural England will now take the proposals to the Natural England Board for approval to proceed to the Notice Period. Approval to proceed to the Notice Period results in the final proposals being made available for all stakeholders to raise any outstanding objections, prior to the proposals being submitted to the Secretary of State.
