Changes to the Planning System - A Christmas Present?

Government announce - “The Next Stage in Our Long Term Plan for Housing Update”

On the 19th December Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, announced a series of changes to the Planning System in a speech at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). (See link at foot of Post).  A statement was also made to parliament (See Link at foot of Post.

The speech was accompanied by an update to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) - (See link at foot of post)..    Also published was the Government’s response to the December 2022 consultation of reforms to planning policy, plus the the Housing Delivery Test 2022 results were published on the same day.

The changes will inform the debate as to how the Guildford Local Plan Review will be conducted.
