Working from home won’t slash emissions

13 October 2020

The Conversation Website has published an interesting article on how working from home won’t slash emissions unless a car-free lifestyle is enabled.  An analysis of the National Travel Survey showed that people working from home made just one less trip per week than regular commuters. Other studies have found that those who work from home also tend to live further away from their employer, and so clock up more mileage when they do travel to work. Home workers are more likely to live in smaller towns and suburbs, in the UK these are often car dependent.

Making Guildford fit for a future where we may have less London Commuting but also a need to enable local journeys, whilst minimising emissions, using Active Travel (Walking, Bikes) and Public Transport is a challenge
