This site has been the subject to one consultation on revised proposals following the decision to reduce drastically the size of parking provision on the site. Guildford Borough Council (GBC) who own the site have now announced a second round of consultation.
GBC have the following aspirations for the site, which it will be interesting to see how well the revised proposals achieve.
New Homes
Providing new homes in Guildford town centre; including a mix of homes to meet a range of accommodation needs including those for families and first-time buyers.
Affordable Homes
Providing more affordable housing is a priority, with at least 40% of the development available to rent for people on our housing register or to buy through a shared-ownership scheme.
Quality
A development of using quality materials that result in homes built to last.
Energy Efficient
The homes are designed to be amongst the most energy efficient homes in the borough with at least 60% less emissions than required by national standards.
Green Space
There will be new green spaces and play areas for communities to enjoy.
Transportation
The location also allows for great transport links.
Integration into Heritage and Landscape
The town's heritage and protected views have been considered.
The exhibition will take place over two days at Grace Church:
Grace Church is close to the proposed site on Guildford Park Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7NF.
A webinar presentation will take place on Wednesday 2 November from 6pm to 7pm.
Register to attend the webinar or view the proposals.
After the webinar, we will publish a recording
Help us make Guildford better
We want our town to be vibrant, attractive and liveable. We support development that brings a sense of place and enhances the best aspects of our town. If such aims can be embraced, we believe Guildford has the chance to lead the way in enabling sensitive and sustainable development.
Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
Support Us
Getting involved allows the society to continue its work. We welcome new members, from every age and background. Membership provides an opportunity for you to contribute to the continued health of the town and surrounding area, and to meet other people who care about Guildford.
