Guildford Design Awards 2023 – Nominating a Project.

We are now seeking nominations for the Awards that will be presented in late 2023 with judging to take place from mid-summer on.

Projects must have been completed between June 2021 and June 2023 to be eligible for entry to the Awards.  Entry is Free

Guildford Design Awards are held in partnership between Guildford Society and Guildford Borough Council, who will award prizes to the best buildings across nine categories, including new commercial building, best conservation project and public art. Participants will be invited to a grand awards ceremony in November. 

Winners will receive a plaque for the Building Concerned, and will have a short interview videoed for the Guildford Society Website.

Nominations can be for a location anywhere in the Borough of Guildford. The Borough boundaries are below.  If you need to conduct a detailed check on location look at Guildford Borough Interactive Planning Map

Judging Panel

The panel consists of representatives from the Guildford Society, Guildford Borough Council and other panellists invited for their relevant expertise whether architectural, planning, artistic, or project commissioning.

Do you know a Building that should be Nominated

As an Owner/Developer or Architect you can nominate a scheme that you are involved with. 

As a member of the public if you see a building, you think should be nominated either talk to the owner, if known, to encourage their participation, or contact The Guildford Society (See Below) by e-mail so we can see if the property can be nominated.

Submitting a Nomination for a Project

If you would like to nominate a project for consideration be it large or small please make your submission by e-mail to Peter Coleman petercolemanarchitects@gmail.com with details of the project to include:

  1. Address of Scheme including postcod
  2. Category of Project from list below
    • New Commercial Building
    • New Public Building
    • New Build - Individual House
    • New Build - Multiple Housing – smaller projects up to 30 homes
    • New Build - Multiple Housing – larger projects 30 homes and over
    • Conservation Project
    • Regeneration Project including those involving an extension to an existing building.
    • Public Realm including soft (landscape) and/or hard works
    • Public Art
  3. Name of Client
  4. Architect, Design Consultants or Artist
  5. Key contact - Email address, phone number, etc. 
  6. Brief description of the Project including key features of the design, maximum 1 page A4
  7. Photographs of the completed project (include existing photographs, plans and elevations, as appropriate for the Conservation Project and Regeneration Project categories)
  8. Plans, Sections, Elevation - include as appropriate.
