Making a destination in Folkstone

A Unique Skatepark

Folkstone has produced a new destination in the Town housed in an innovative building.

Folkestone 51 (F51) is the world’s first purpose built multi-storey skatepark.  It also houses other sports facilities.

Funded by The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and run by local sports charity, The Sports Trust, as well as the skatepark it is home to the largest lead climbing wall in the South East while also featuring bouldering facilities and a boxing gym.

Three floors dedicated to skateboarding, including two world class suspended concrete bowls, F51 has turned heads both nationally and internationally.

F51 seeks to put skaters, BMXers and climbers at the forefront of Folkestone, celebrating existing talent and encouraging new beginners to get involved through a range of lessons and inclusive sessions to ensure that there is something for everyone.

Designers

The building was designed by the Hollaway Studio an architectural and interior design practice working in the Southeast and London.

The RIBA award-winning practice has built its reputation working on a wide array of projects, including the new HQ for Brompton cycles, the world’s first heritage theme park, a bespoke artist’s studio in an open field, and a high-end seafood restaurant. They were also one of the first to install a tubular steel slide in an office redesign, and the chosen architects for the replanning of an entire town.
