The Mikhail Riches’ scheme for Goldsmith Street in Norwich was the first social housing project to win the RIBA Stirling Prize In 2019. The practice was short listed for the Stirling Prize in 2024 for its work renovating the Park Hill Flats in Sheffield.
David Mikhail is one the Founding Directors of Mikhail Riches and will discuss how he approaches design to create attractive, sustainable and inclusive living environments. David has been responsible for Goldsmith Street for Norwich City Council, The Housing Delivery Programme for City of York Council and Owlstone Croft Graduate Homes for Queens’ College Cambridge. David is interested in biodiversity and UK woodlands, and is currently building his own Passivhaus home in Kent.
The Mikhail Riches Practice has been operating for 26 Years and brings experience of creating sustainable architecture with particular expertise in environmental design that optimises natural assets to improve a building’s performance. The Practice has conducted a wide range of projects across multiple sectors – including Housing, Education, Mixed-Use, Master planning, Leisure & Retrofit.
Clients range include Public Sector and Housing Associations e.g. Norwich City Council, National Infrastructure Commission, Private Developers e.g. Urban Splash and Colleges and Universities including Oxford and Cambridge Colleges.
