Talks and Events Programme 

The Social and Membership Group are responsible for co-ordinating the Society's programme of talks, visits and other events

Programme changes may arise from time to time or we may plan additional events.

Updated information will be posted on our website or notified to members by email, text or social media links.

Non-members are welcome to attend our Open Meetings unless otherwise stated. 
There is no charge to attend but donations will be gratefully received


The Guildford Society's Town Bridge Market

Held annually since 1973 for the benefit of small traders and to raise funds for the Guildford Society. The Town Bridge provides direct pedestrian access to & from Debenhams and Guildford High Street shops from a car park and residential areas to the west. It is located at the bottom of High Street next to Debenhams and St Nicholas church.

The following market dates have been announced for 2017 and maybe subject to change:

August 27th
September  11th, 23rd

2017 Talk Programme, Public Meetings, and Events

The Society's talks and events programme are shown below. We are reducing  the frequency of our 2017 social talks programme from monthly to two monthly intervals and will have a mix of afternoon and evening talks. Please check the timings and watch this space for updates.


Any additional open talks or Public Meetings  concerning key local issues will remain as evening meetings as will the Society members AGM. Non members are welcome at our open or public meetings at no charge, although donations are always gratefully received.

Our speakers will be Robin Stannard and Sarah Sullivan

Enjoy a day out visiting Guildford's historic sites.   
Free to the Public.

November 8th. 11th Annual Architecture Lecture

11th Annual Architecture Lecture  - Modern Design and Heritage
Open meeting - all welcome, no charge
Date to be confirmed   18.45 for  19.00.
Venue: Lecture Theatre, Rik Medlik Building ,University of Surrey
Optional supper at The Lakeside restaurant - details and cost to be advised    

Our speaker will be Chris Lamb – Director of Design South East who are advisers to GBC. We expect Chris to talk about how successful developments can best combine new build whilst respecting ancient structures and local heritage.


December 6th -Christmas Social & Entertainment

Wednesday 6th December  7.00  for 7.15pm
Venue.  The Guildhall, Guildford High Street

The Guildford Society invite members and their partners to a Christmas Social Evening.  Wine & seasonal light refreshments will be provided

We shall be entertained by Andy Thomas who will present a fascinating illustrated
talk entitled " The Deeper Meaning of Christmas "
